In a Coal based Thermal Power Plant. If something plays a vital role…
Then its >>> STEAM…!!!
ü
STEAM GENERATION –
Basic Definition - “Process
of conversion of water into steam”
Bookish Definition – “A stage when water begins to boil
and there is no rise in temperature at this stage steam is formed, which continues
to be so at the same temperature unless and until pressure changes”
ü SOME Basic TERMINOLOGIES
–
Sensible
Heat
– Heat required for bringing water from 0 degree to its boiling point. (No
phase change)
Latent
Heat
– Heat required for changing the state of water from liquid to vapor state.
(Phase Change)
Saturation
Temperature
– The temperature at which both water and steam remains at the same temperature
though heat is continued to be added till the water is completely converted
into steam.
Critical
Point
– Temperature of 374 degree and Pressure of 224.6 Kg/cm2 absolute
pressure.
Super
Heat – When
the steam is heated above Saturation Temperature
Heat
Transfer – Heat
Transfer in boiler is carried out in three ways,
Conduction-Convection-Radiation. (Guys it will be explained in details later…)
